Iran Protests Turn Violent

Large protests have happened in Iran. They started because of economic problems. Security forces used strong actions against the people. Many people have died. The country has had internet problems too.

The protests began in December. They became much bigger in January. January 8th and 9th were very violent days. These days are remembered as some of the worst in Iran's history.

At first, people were angry about high prices. They were also unhappy with their lives. Soon, the protests were about the government. People felt unheard for a long time. They went to the streets to show their anger.

However, security forces used force. They used deadly weapons. This stopped the protests. People who spoke to the news told sad stories.

Parisa, a woman from Tehran, was scared. She said, "The smell of gunpowder was in the air." She heard bullets in her area. Security forces shot at crowds. Many people died because of this. Parisa knew thirteen people who died.

The government also stopped the internet. This made it hard for people to talk. It was a way to stop more protests. It also helped control what people heard. An organization said over 6,000 people died.

Mehdi, another person from Tehran, felt sad. He said, "We all know someone who died." Many families are hurting. The country has many problems. These events show how economic anger can lead to trouble.
