Drones Hit Train in Ukraine, President Calls it "Terrorism"

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky strongly condemned a recent Russian drone attack. The attack hit a passenger train in the Kharkiv region. President Zelensky said it was an act of "terrorism." He also stated there was no military reason for the attack. The incident caused deaths and injuries. It shows Russia is increasingly attacking Ukraine's important civilian places. This attack follows many Russian aerial bombardments. These attacks try to damage Ukraine's energy and transport systems. This is happening as Ukraine faces a very cold winter.

The drone strike in Kharkiv happened near Yazykove village. A drone hit a train carriage directly. Two other drones exploded nearby. Officials say at least four people died. Four more people are missing. The train had over 200 passengers. President Zelensky said targeting civilians like this is against the rules of war. He said it is "purely as terrorism." He added there was no "military justification" for it.

Russian forces also attacked the city of Odesa. This happened on the same night as the Kharkiv attack. Reports from Ukraine's emergency services say three people died in Odesa. These attacks on important places show Russia wants to put pressure on Ukraine's people and economy. Russia has attacked energy facilities many times. This has caused long power outages for millions of Ukrainians. This makes the winter conditions even worse.

Russia started its full invasion in February 2022. The war is now long. Russia controls about 20% of Ukraine. This is mostly in the east and south. The attacks on transport and energy, and now trains, seem planned. They aim to cause fear and disrupt daily life. They also aim to hurt Ukraine's ability to move supplies.

Many countries have condemned Russia's actions. They believe attacking civilian places breaks international law. Ukraine is dealing with the attacks and power problems. However, the Ukrainian people and leaders remain strong. The continued use of these tactics by Russia causes worry. It also raises questions about the future of the war. Ukrainian authorities are investigating these events as possible war crimes.
