Police Arrest Ten in Larnaca Crime Sweep

Police started a big operation in Larnaca on Wednesday. The operation looked for suspected organised crime groups. Police searched many places in the area. So far, ten people have been arrested. Police say the investigation is not finished. More arrests are expected.

The operation is looking into serious crimes. These crimes are not connected to a fight last Saturday. That fight happened near the police station. Six people were arrested for that incident. They were five foreigners and a 48-year-old Cypriot man.

Police did not share all details about the organised crime. However, police spokesperson Spyros Chrysostomou spoke about the operation. He said searches are happening in Larnaca city and province. Ten people have been arrested. The goal is to stop illegal groups.

A well-known local businessman was arrested. His house in Larnaca was searched. This shows police are taking these crimes seriously.

The fight near the police station made people worried. It also made investigations more urgent. The Saturday incident showed how some criminals work. Someone said they were first asked for €7,000. Then they were asked for €1,000 each month. This was said to be for protection. This news made people more anxious about crime.

This police action is a big step against organised crime in Cyprus. Police are working hard to solve this problem. The operation is large and has led to many arrests. This is an effort to stop criminal businesses. The investigation will continue.
