Storm ADEL Brings Bad Weather to Cyprus

The Mediterranean island of Cyprus had very bad weather last weekend because of a strong storm named ADEL. The country's weather service gave out a yellow warning. They told people to expect heavy rain, hail, and strong winds. The worst of the storm is now moving away, but some parts of the island still have unstable weather. Conditions should become fully calm by Wednesday.

The storm first affected the western and northern coasts, as well as the Troodos mountains, most strongly. From Saturday evening to Sunday afternoon, the weather was at its worst. There were very heavy rain showers, and in one hour, some places could have seen over 50mm of rain. This much rain can cause dangerous flash floods. The storms also dropped hail, which can damage cars and crops. At the same time, winds became strong, making the sea dangerous for boats, especially in the west and north. There was also dust in the air, which made it harder to see.

Temperatures changed a lot because of the storm. At night, it was quite cold, about 12 degrees inland and as low as 7 degrees in the mountains, where there was even some sleet. During the day, it was warmer, around 20 to 22 degrees in most areas, but still only 10 degrees in the mountains.

The storm made daily life difficult and people had to be very careful. Now, the weather is still a bit unsettled on Monday and Tuesday, with some rain and storms in the north and mountains. But I think everyone is happy that the weather is improving. This storm shows how quickly the weather can change in this region.
