Flamingos Arrive at Larnaca Salt Lake

Thousands of flamingos have arrived at Larnaca's salt lake. This beautiful sight happens every winter. The birds are elegant and have bright pink colours. They walk in the shallow water. We can see them eating and cleaning their feathers. This is a special event for people who live here and for nature lovers. It means winter bird season has started in Cyprus.

These amazing birds usually come in late November or early December. Their long journey from Europe and Africa ends here. Cyprus has a mild climate for them. The salt lake has lots of food. This food helps them survive the cold months. Cyprus is an important place for birds flying between Africa and Asia.

Last weekend, many people saw the flamingos. They were very active. The shallow water is perfect for their feeding. They filter small creatures and plants from the water. The flamingos make the lake look very beautiful. They are a reminder of nature's balance. Their long necks look graceful as they eat.
