Crop Thieves Return to Paphos Farms

Crop thieves are stealing from farms again near Laona, Paphos. These thieves are women who use quad bikes. They had stopped stealing for a few months. Now, they have started again. This is bad for local farmers and landowners. Farmers feel unsafe and cheated.

The thieves are very quick and organised. People have seen them riding quad bikes around farms. They cut the crops and put them in bags very fast. The whole job takes only minutes. Other people arrive in cars to buy the stolen crops. They pay cash right away. Then they all leave quickly.

Farmers are very worried about this. They are complaining to the police again. Many people are unhappy about losing their crops. This theft hurts the farmers' money and their work. The thieves work together well. This shows it is an organised group.

A Member of Parliament, Chrysanthos Savvides, spoke about the thieves. He said, "Women on quad bikes break into farms, cut crops, and within minutes people arrive in vehicles, pay for the produce and disappear." This shows how fast and planned it is. It is hard for the police to stop them.

One time, a buyer first offered a small amount of money. Then, the buyer gave much more money for the stolen crops. This shows how much the thieves' crops are worth. The thieves are working in daylight. This makes people wonder about security. The thieves were stopped before but now they are back. They still want to steal. Using women might help them not look suspicious. Farmers are now trying to protect their farms themselves. This theft is a big problem for farming in Paphos.
