Syria Government and SDF Agree to Stop Fighting

A new agreement has been made between the Syrian government and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). This agreement stops fighting that happened for almost two weeks. It is an important step that will change Syria. The government expects to control important areas again. The agreement has 14 points. It says all fighting must stop right away.

The SDF will join the Syrian military. Syrian government groups will now manage civilian areas. They will also control border crossings and oil fields. These are mostly in the east and north of Syria. The government will also take charge of places with ISIS prisoners. This means the government is responsible for security.

The agreement was finished after a meeting. President Ahmed al-Sharaa met with a US representative. The SDF commander, Mazloum Abdi, was supposed to sign it. However, bad weather stopped his visit. He will now come next Monday. The talks were difficult. The fighting could have become much worse.

The SDF became strong during the war. The United States helped them fight ISIS. They controlled areas in the east. Now, the SDF must leave these areas. Syrian government groups will move in. The SDF can choose people for important government jobs. This is to make sure everyone is included.

SDF commander Mazloum Abdi said the deal was important. He said it would "avoid a broader war." He also said the fighting was "imposed" on the SDF. This agreement will help the Syrian government control most of the country. Managing ISIS prisoners will be a big test. It is also important for peace in the region.
