A new poll shows that many Cypriot citizens have a less positive view of President Nikos Christodoulides. This change happened after a video was leaked. The video reportedly shows the President's former office director talking to people who might be investors. This has caused worry in the country's politics.
The survey was done by RAI Consultant for "ALPHA". The results were shared by Alphanews.live. The poll found that 58% of people think the video hurt the President's image a lot. Another 19% said it had a moderate negative effect. This means many people are concerned about the video. Also, 71% of people said they watched the video.
Olympios Toumazos from RAI Consultants said the negative reaction is similar for many different groups of people. He explained that the video's bad effect is seen across gender, age, and where people live. This shows the issue is important to many voters. It makes it harder for the government to keep public trust.
People are still guessing how the video was leaked. The video seems to be about meetings with people pretending to be investors. This has clearly made many citizens unhappy. The fact that the President's former director was in the video makes the situation more serious.
Most people felt the video had a negative impact. However, some people disagreed. Only 11% thought the President's image was not affected. Another 9% did not know about the video at all. These numbers are much smaller than the people who are unhappy. This shows that many people believe the story about the video. Over 60% of people saw the video, showing it was widely shared.
