Cyprus Arrests Over 30 Undocumented Foreigners

Cypriot police arrested over thirty foreign nationals on Sunday. These people were living in the country without legal papers. Some will be sent home immediately. Others will also be deported soon. This large police action shows the government's strong position. They want to stop people living illegally. They also want to fight organised crime. The operation happened all over the island. It lasted from morning to noon. This is a new step in national security. It is also about managing migration.

This action follows a recent shooting in Larnaca. The shooting happened in the daytime. It made people feel worried about safety. Justice Minister Costas Fitiris spoke about this. He said there is zero tolerance for foreigners in crime. He said, "Over 30 undocumented foreigners were arrested today." He also said they are working on immediate deportation. Fitiris promised fast deportation processes. These will follow all the rules.

Special police units worked together on this. They are from the Aliens and Immigration Service. This shows good teamwork. The operation sends a clear message. People without legal status should be careful. Those who break the law will face serious problems. The government will fight all criminal groups. Foreigners involved in crime will be arrested. They will be deported quickly. They may also be banned from returning. Cypriots who help criminals will also be punished.

More people are being sent home now. Last year, 11,742 people were removed. This is more than the 10,092 removed in the year before. Fewer people are arriving illegally. In 2025, only 2,444 arrived illegally. This is much less than before. This change is because of a plan to control migration. More police are now on the streets in Larnaca. They are working all day and night. This is to make people feel safer. The government asks for the public's help. People can report anything they see. This will help the police. The government wants to make people feel safe again.
