Man Seriously Hurt in Cyprus Attack

A quiet Sunday morning in Tersefanou, Cyprus, was broken by a violent attack. A 40-year-old man was seriously injured. Police arrested a 33-year-old suspect. He faces charges like attempted murder. The attack happened in an apartment building.

The incident started around 7:00 AM. The suspect allegedly entered an apartment through an open balcony door. He found a meat cleaver in the kitchen. Then, he attacked the 40-year-old man. He hit him many times with the cleaver. The victim had very bad wounds.

A 46-year-old woman was also in the apartment. The attacker allegedly threatened her. She was brave and escaped. Police found her later in the parking area.

The injured man was taken to a hospital. His condition is serious. He lost his left thumb. Parts of his right thumb and finger were also cut off. He has deep cuts on his hands, head, and back.

Police searched for the suspect quickly. Although he ran away at first, he was caught soon after. The police had an arrest warrant for him.

A police spokesperson confirmed the arrest. The suspect is in custody. Police are trying to find out why the attack happened.
