Venezuela Has New Leader

Venezuela has a new leader. Special U.S. soldiers took President Nicolas Maduro. This happened on January 3rd. The Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez, is now in charge. She has hard problems. The country's politics are not stable. The economy is also weak.

Maduro was taken to New York. He will face charges there. President Donald Trump talked about Venezuela's oil. This made some people hopeful. Others were worried.

Delcy Rodríguez said it is a "new time." She said the country will "open up." Many people in jail will be freed. But some groups say many people are still in jail. Human rights groups worry. They say some leaders still have power. Teenagers were arrested for being happy about Maduro's capture. This shows fear is still here.

President Trump wants oil companies to work. He said they will get much oil. Venezuela's oil used to be very high. It can grow again. But this could hurt the environment. It could also harm our planet. Venezuela's oil machines are old.

These changes affect other countries. Colombia is one. President Trump spoke to Colombia's President. He has different ideas. It is not clear what the U.S. wants for Venezuela.

Venezuela's future is not set. It depends on who is in charge. It also depends on what the U.S. wants. Many groups still work. It is too soon to know if things will be stable. These changes will have a big effect.
