Woman Cleared of Money Charges

A court in Cyprus let a woman go free. She is 32 years old and from Ukraine. She was accused of money laundering. The court did not find proof she did wrong.

There was a problem with her papers. She did not fill them out right. A man from Ukraine was also cleared. He was with the woman.

The case began when the woman said money was stolen. This happened in March 2024. She said €420,000 was gone.

Police looked at her money. She came to Cyprus many times. She brought almost €7.8 million. She told customs about the money each time.

The government said the money was from crime. They said she tried to hide it. But the court said they could not prove it.

The court said she made false papers. This was about why she brought the money. It was not about where it came from. The court needed more proof.

The woman could go to prison for 14 years. Now she is free from those charges. But she still has problems with her papers. She could go to prison for other charges. These cases will be heard on February 4th.
