World Uses More Fossil Fuels

The world is using more oil and gas. This is not good for our climate goals. Countries said they would use clean energy. But they are using fossil fuels more now. This is because they need energy for their economies.

More projects for liquid natural gas (LNG) are starting. By 2030, there will be more LNG to sell. American companies want to earn money. But some experts think LNG demand is not certain. This may cause problems later.

Gas prices are lower in Europe. Prices went under $10 per mmBTU. They might fall more next year. This is good for people and companies. But it is harder for the EU. The EU wants to stop using gas from Russia.

Oil countries are also making a lot of oil. Saudi Arabia will make more gas soon. OPEC+ countries will keep oil making the same. People will still use oil for many years.

The International Energy Agency (IEA) thought there would be too much oil. This now seems less likely. American oil making might be lower. But American companies are still making oil well.

Politics can also change oil prices. The US watches oil ships. Changes in interest rates also affect oil prices. This makes oil prices unsure.

The main reason for using more fossil fuels is "energy pragmatism." Governments worry about high electricity costs. They want to help their economies. Some countries are changing climate rules. Clean energy can be costly for constant power. Energy safety and low prices are important. So the world is not only trying to lower emissions. It is harder to reach zero emissions by 2050.
