Cyprus Wages Change in New Year

The new year brought big money changes in Cyprus. Wages went up in the south. They also went up a little in the north.

The south government raised the minimum wage. This helps workers. It also keeps the economy strong. The new wage is €1,088. This is for many workers.

In the north, wages also rose. But it was a smaller rise. They also added a special payment. Many workers and unions are not happy.

The north announced a new wage. It is 60,618 Turkish lira. This is about €1,237. A union leader said this is too low. He said it does not help with high prices.

Workers want more money. They feel ignored. The south government will keep its wage for two years. The north's plan is for six months. The economy is hard for everyone. We will see how these changes help people.
