Authorities in Cyprus watch for a sickness. It is called foot-and-mouth disease. This sickness is very easy to catch. It makes farm animals sick.
The sickness started three weeks ago. It was first found in Lapathos. Three animals have been sick. No new animals are sick now.
Experts are working to stop the sickness. They want to help the farms.
The first sick animals were found in December. A team came to look. Cyprus experts lead the work. They work with the British Bases. They also work with a place in Ankara.
They will give shots to animals. This will make them strong. Shots for cattle in the North are done. More shots for cattle will start soon. Sheep and goats will get shots too.
Health workers check farms. They look at farms near a line on the island. They take tests from animals. Farmers must follow rules.
The British Bases help too. They clean places. This stops the sickness from spreading. They want to keep all parts of the island safe.
