Drivers can pay the tax in parts. They need a good car check. They also need car insurance. The big problem is the airbags. The cars did not get new ones. The Road Transport Department (RTD) will not allow tax for these cars.
This is for everyone's safety. All cars must be safe. The RTD told owners about the airbags. Many cars had this issue. About 100,500 cars needed new airbags. Most owners changed them. But some cars still need the new airbags.
Owners who did not change airbags cannot renew tax. These cars cannot drive on roads. The deadline will not change.
Drivers who pay late will pay more. They will pay an extra €10. They will also pay more tax. The RTD wants drivers to pay on time.
