Old Port Found in Cyprus

Archaeologists worked for six weeks in Peyia, Cyprus. They found a big old harbour. This harbour is from the 6th century. It was a busy place then.

Many old things were found. Over 700 kilos of broken jars were found. These jars are called amphorae. They tell us about old times.

The port helped move marble for churches. The jars have red ink marks. These marks help people learn about old business. Professor Stella Demesticha is in charge.

The team also looked at a tomb area. It is called Agios Georgios. A tomb there was used for many years. People lived there for a long time.

Experts from different schools helped. They study the old jars and bones. This helps us learn about ancient life.

These finds show Cyprus was important. The old jars show big trade. More study will help us learn more.
