A new report shows a strange situation in Cyprus. People there have very big homes. In fact, they have the most space in the European Union. About 70% of people live in homes with extra rooms. Most people in Cyprus live in houses, not apartments.
But there is a big problem. It is very difficult to find a home to rent, and the prices are going up. In cities like Paphos, rental prices increased by almost 5% in just a few months. Only one city, Limassol, had lower prices.
This is strange because many people in Cyprus own their home. The problem is for people who need to rent. The government says there are reasons for this. Building new homes is now very expensive. Also, many foreign workers want to live in Cyprus, so demand is high.
The report says the country has enough homes, but they are not available or cheap for everyone. The government needs to find a solution soon.
