New Year's Night Problems

New Year's Eve was sad in France and the Netherlands. There was more fighting and damage. Police in both countries saw many problems. Cars were burned. People attacked helpers like police. This made the night feel bad. It showed it is hard to keep order.

In France, over 1,100 cars burned. The government said it was less than last year. But police were busy. About 90,000 police worked. More than 500 people were stopped. Over 400 were taken to jail. Police also got fireworks thrown at them. This was dangerous. Paris and other cities had trouble.

The Netherlands also had hard times for helpers. Police said the fighting was very bad. Police were attacked. In Breda, police were hit by fireworks. Sadly, fireworks caused deaths. Two young men died in accidents.

Also, New Year's Eve caused big damage. In Amsterdam, a church caught fire. Its tall top fell down. People were hurt by fireworks. An eye hospital helped many people. Some children needed operations.

These problems are complex. Burning cars and attacking helpers happen often. This is a big problem. Police and firefighters were under pressure. Better plans will be needed. We need more police. We need to work with people. These events show that new years can be destructive.
