Cyprus Roads Are Late

Cyprus has big problems with public roads. Many important road projects are very late. They also cost much more money. This is not good for people who pay taxes.

A big road from Paphos to Polis Chrysochous is a problem. People wanted this road for a long time. But building it is late. One part is Agia Marinouda–Stroumpi. It is 15.5 kilometers long.

A company called INTRAKAT got the job. It cost €73 million. It should finish in November 2024. But little work was done. So, the Public Works Department stopped INTRAKAT's contract.

INTRAKAT's main company tried to help. But the department said no. This made things later. Now, it will cost €92 million. This part will take three more years.

Other projects are also late. Building a gas place is late too. This happens because rules are hard. There are also long court cases. Money for materials is also more. Experts think the rules are not good.

These delays and costs make problems. People and shops need good roads. The Paphos–Polis road is not ready. Travel is harder. Safety is also a problem. Cyprus must fix its building soon. The government needs better plans.
