Cyprus Police Unhappy With New Rules

Police unions in Cyprus are not happy. They do not like new rules for police officers. Two big unions are unhappy. They say no one asked them. The unions also feel their rights are ignored.

These new rules start in 2026. They will change daily work times. They will also reduce holiday days. This is a big talk about police work.

The Police Chief announced the new rules. He said officers will work their planned hours. This means less extra work. He thinks this will help police be there more.

But the unions are very upset. They think work hours are important. They say bosses cannot change them alone. The unions also say old rules were agreed on.

The new changes are big. Officers might get fewer holidays. Unions think this will hurt officers' lives. They feel the changes were announced without talking.

The unions warned that this is a mistake. It could hurt trust. They think work rules should be discussed by all.
