Cyprus is very sad because several serious road accidents happened in a short time. These accidents killed multiple people in different areas.
First, in Paphos, a motorcycle with two young people crashed late at night. The driver, 19, lost control. The motorcycle hit a curb and a barrier. Both the driver and his 17-year-old passenger were hurt and went to the hospital.
In another very sad event, a truck crashed on a motorway near Kakoratzia. A 17-year-old girl in the truck, Aliki Nikolaou, died at the scene. The driver lost control, and police think he had been drinking. He was arrested. Four other people in the truck had minor injuries.
At the same time, a 28-year-old man from Ukraine died in the hospital. He was on a motorcycle and was hit by a truck a few days before. Also, a 66-year-old woman from Limassol died. She was hit by a car in July.
These accidents have started an important conversation about road safety. The police are investigating all the cases. People are talking about the need for safer driving.
