Bangladesh Leader Khaleda Zia Dies

Khaleda Zia, a very important leader in Bangladesh, has died. She was 80 years old. Zia was the first woman Prime Minister of Bangladesh. Her political party told people she died on Tuesday morning. She had a long life in politics. She was sick and in the hospital in Dhaka. Her health got very bad.

Zia began her political work after her husband died. He was President Ziaur Rahman. She took over his political party, the BNP. She led the BNP to win an election in 1991. Then, she became Prime Minister. This brought back democracy.

As Prime Minister, Zia helped women with education. She also started programs for people. But she had a big fight with Sheikh Hasina. This fight made problems for the country. Zia was also in prison. This showed hard times in Bangladesh.

The BNP told everyone about her death on Facebook. Many people are very sad. People went to the hospital. Doctors said she was very weak.

Khaleda Zia's death is a big change for Bangladesh. She helped bring democracy. Her life is part of the country's story. Her death is before the next election. This is a big change for her party.
