Limassol Fines Noisy Bars

The city of Limassol has new rules for bars in the old town. For many years, people living there complained about loud music at night. Now, bars must be quieter.

If a bar is too noisy, it will get a fine. The first fine is €85. If the same bar is noisy again in one week, the fine can be €3,400. The city checked the sound at 30 places recently. More than half were too loud, especially after midnight.

A city leader, Maria Diamantidou, said the police will help with the new rules. She said Limassol is the first city to act on this problem.

People who live in the old town are happy. They said the noise made daily life difficult. Some bar owners want a clearer system. But one bar owner said he did not know about the new measures. The city must now make sure all bars follow the rules.
