Cyprus has more serious crimes now. This is the third year it has happened. The numbers for 2024 show more reports and cases. This means more people are hurt by crime. Also, more young people are doing bad things.
The numbers are not good. In 2024, police got 5,942 reports. About 5,900 were real cases. This is more than last year. Now, about 16 serious crimes happen each day.
Crimes about property are most common. They were 31.8% of all reports. Crimes against people were second. They were 26.8% of the total.
More people are victims. In 2024, there were 6,651 victims. This is 20% more than last year.
Young people are doing more crime. The number of young offenders grew by 29%. This is a big problem.
We need to find out why. We also need good plans to be safe.
