Very heavy monsoon rains hit Sri Lanka and Indonesia. The rains caused bad floods and landslides. More than 100 people died. Many thousands of people had to leave their homes.
In Sri Lanka, over 40 people died. The rain was worst in the central mountains. Roads and train lines closed. Rescue workers used helicopters and boats to help people.
In Indonesia, 69 people died on the island of Sumatra. Many people are still missing. Mudslides buried houses. Thousands of people went to government shelters for safety. Rescue work is very difficult because of mud and broken roads.
Officials say the problem is not finished. They think more people may die because some areas are still hard to reach. They need more machines and help.
These countries often have floods in the rainy season. But experts say the rains are now stronger because of climate change. This shows that these places need better plans for future disasters.
