Canada's Heritage Minister, Steven Guilbeault, has left his job in the government. He resigned because he did not agree with a new energy plan.
The Prime Minister and the leader of Alberta made a deal for a new oil pipeline to the Pacific Coast. The government will remove some environmental rules. In exchange, Alberta will put more money into technology to reduce pollution. The government says the pipeline is important for the economy and will send oil to new countries.
But Minister Guilbeault was very sad about this. He is a well-known environmentalist. He said the pipeline is bad for the environment and does not follow Canada's climate promises.
People have very different opinions about the plan. The oil industry and Alberta's leader are happy. They say it will bring more money and jobs. However, the leader of British Columbia and some Indigenous groups are against it. They say they will stop the project.
The minister's resignation shows there are big problems inside the government about this new pipeline.
