US Lifts Some Belarus Sanctions

The United States has lifted some rules on Belarus. This is a big change. It happened because 123 people are now free. These people were in prison for political reasons. This gives hope for better friendship. But the European Union still has its rules.

The freed people were important. They spoke out after the 2020 election. Maria Kolesnikova was one. Viktor Babaryka and Ales Bialiatski were also freed. Their freedom shows Belarus is doing good things. The US government saw this.

This is a smart choice. It is not a total change. The US had strong rules for years. This was because of human rights. The people being free is why the rules changed. A leader from Belarus is happy but careful. She asked for help before.

The people felt very happy to be free. They still want a free country. Maria Kolesnikova said it was good to hug family. She also thinks of others not free. She hopes all will be free soon. The fight for freedom in Belarus is not over.

This is a good start. Belarus can look better to other countries. Some business may get easier. But big problems are still there. It is a good step, people say. Relations are not all good yet. The EU's rules also make things hard.

Other countries are watching. Russia is a friend of Belarus. They will see what the US does. Ukraine will also watch Belarus. These steps are carefully made. The region's power is tricky. Moscow will watch the West.

123 people are free. The US changed its rules a little. This is a step forward. We will see what Belarus does. Will they keep doing good things? Or is it just for now? The world will keep watching.
