Storm Byron Causes Big Problems

Storm Byron brought much rain to Cyprus. It caused a lot of damage. The weather was very strong. Roads and buildings had problems. Some people left their homes. The sea near the coast turned red. This was strange.

The weather office gave warnings. The rain started Tuesday night. Streets became like rivers. Many homes and shops had water inside. A dam in the north broke. This caused floods in towns.

Schools in the north closed. People moved to safe places. Main roads were shut. It was hard for help to arrive.

At Agia Triada beach, the sea was red. Experts said it was okay. Heavy rain washed red soil into the sea. This happens sometimes.

The rain also helped Cyprus. The island needs water. The rain will fill up water places. The weather will be better soon. Storm Byron caused problems, but it also brought water.
