Nicosia is getting big road works to improve the city. The government and the city are working together. They are fixing the roads, making them new, and adding new road lights.
Important roads like Kennedy Avenue, Kyrenia Avenue, and Limassol Avenue are affected. The work often happens at night. This is because they want to cause less trouble for people who live and drive there. There are also new routes for cars to follow.
The works cost a lot of money. The European Investment Bank is giving €200 million for Nicosia. Also, the government has its own big plan for roads.
A spokesperson said the work is important for when Cyprus leads a meeting for the EU. But they also said the city needed these works anyway. They ask people to be patient because the result will be good for everyone.
Road works are also happening in the north part of the city. Drivers must follow the signs for the new routes. The works will continue in December.
