Soldiers tried to take Benin on Sunday. They wanted to change the president. They said they made a "Military Committee." They told everyone on TV.

But the government was fast. Benin's army stopped them. Nigeria helped Benin too. They got back buildings in the city. This was quick, in a few hours.

This shows problems in West Africa. Soldiers are taking over more often. The soldiers wanted to hurt the government. But their plan failed because of quick help. The Benin army was loyal. Countries in the area worked together.

Nigeria sent planes to help. They flew over places with the soldiers. Nigeria sent soldiers on the ground. Other countries sent soldiers too. They all wanted to protect freedom.

The president spoke on TV. He said the government was okay. He thanked the army. Some people were hurt. Some people were also taken. The president said bad people will pay.

This failed event is important. It was an "attack on freedom." It shows worries about safety in West Africa. Other countries will help keep peace. Even strong countries can have problems.
