Cypriots Lose 100 Hours Annually in Gridlock as Car Dependency Hits Critical Level

Cyprus has a big traffic problem. People lose many hours each year in traffic jams. A company named TomTom shared this news. A man named Loukas Demetriou talked about the study. The study shows many people in Cyprus use their own cars. This is not good for the country. Experts think this is not a good way to travel.

The study found two main problems. One is the roads. The other is how people travel. Almost everyone uses their car for trips. This is different from other cities. In London, many people use buses. But in Cyprus, few people use buses. So, there are not many good ways to travel besides cars.

Because of this, travel is very slow. It takes a long time to go a short distance. The roads are too full. This makes life hard for people. It also costs the country money. People miss work and spend more on gas.

Loukas Demetriou says people should travel differently. But he also says there are not enough buses. This is a tricky problem. Few people use buses because they are not good. Because the buses are not good, there is not much help. So, the problem will stay.

The report says better buses are needed. Without them, traffic jams will not stop. The government must make a plan. They need to put money into buses. They must also help people use buses more. This will make traffic and air better.
