Storm Byron Unleashes Fury on Cyprus, Disrupting Power and Prompting Flood Alerts

A big storm called Byron came to Cyprus. It brought lots of rain and strong winds. Big hailstones fell too. This made some lights go out. The people in charge tried to stop floods. The weather people said it would stay bad.

The rain began on Saturday. It rained a lot in Nicosia first. Then it rained everywhere. The weather was going to be worse. More rain and storms were coming. It would also get colder. Snow might even fall on the big hills.

Because of the rain, towns worked to stop floods. Teams in Paphos cleaned the water pipes. They made sure water could go away easily. This helped keep houses and people safe.

The storm also broke some power lines. Many houses had no lights. Teams worked very hard to fix the lines. They wanted lights back by Sunday. Some places had very strong wind.

Leaders told people to be careful. They said to check your drains. Do not go out if you do not need to. Stay away from the basement if it might flood. This storm shows that the weather can change fast. We all need to help keep things safe.
