A Meeting for Amputees in Gaza

This week, a group of Palestinians met in Gaza. They were all amputees, people who lost an arm or a leg. They met for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

The recent war caused many serious injuries. Doctors in Gaza often had to remove limbs to save lives. Because of this, there are now many new amputees.

The meeting was a place for solidarity. People shared their stories and showed strength. But it was also for action. The group asked for more help. They need better artificial limbs, long medical care, and jobs.

Life is very hard for amputees in Gaza. The hospitals are damaged and cannot give good long-term care. It is also difficult to find work. Advocates worry about a second crisis if these people do not get support.

The meeting was an important reminder. The true cost of war continues for the survivors. They need help for many years to come.
