Cyprus Needs To Save Water

Water is low in Cyprus. Dams are almost empty. People must save water. Some rain fell. Small dams in Paphos overflowed. But water is still low. Dams in other places have less water. This is a big problem.

Paphos dams are only 23% full. This is not much. But some rain helped Pomos and Argaka. This is good for them. Rain did not fall everywhere. The water is not the same everywhere.

Dams across the island are 22.7% full. This is a little more than yesterday. But it is less than last year. Last year, dams were 24.9% full. Cyprus needs more water.

Leaders are trying to save water. They want people to use less. They will fix water pipes. They will teach people to save water. New rules will make water cost more. This will help people use less.

We must also think about rivers. Water flowing to the sea is good. It helps the land. It stops salty water. We must keep rivers healthy.

More rain will come soon. Xyliatos and Tamasos dams may fill up. But we still need a long plan. We need to save water for now and for the future.
