UK Will Give Less Money To Other Countries

The United Kingdom will give less money to help other countries. This is called foreign aid. African countries will get less help. The UK government wants to spend more money on security. This means less money for programs that help people for a long time.

Yvette Cooper is the Foreign Secretary. She said these are hard decisions. Last year, people in the UK voted to cut aid by 40%. This is a lot of money. Aid to African countries will fall by more than half. This is a big loss of money. Programs for schools and health could be hurt.

The UK will also give less aid to many other countries. Money for urgent help in crises is also cut. This makes people worried about helping in emergencies. The UK wants to send most aid to places with fighting. About 70% will go to these places by 2029.

Some countries like Mozambique will get money differently. It will become investment. Aid groups worry this could hurt people needing direct help. Some countries will still get help, but through bigger groups.

The UK wants to spend more on defence. The world feels more dangerous now. Some people are not sure if this plan is good. They worry that defence spending might be slow. Other costs could come up. This could hurt the money savings. It might also hurt the UK's name in the world.
