Cyprus Asks EU for Help Rule

Cyprus wants the EU to use a special rule. It is called Article 42/7. This rule means if one EU country is attacked, others must help. This rule has not been used before. Cyprus's President, Nikos Christodoulides, will talk about it. He will speak at a big EU meeting.

He will say that fights near Cyprus are dangerous. He will talk about a drone attack. The attack was on a British airbase in Cyprus. President Christodoulides thinks these problems are a threat. But some EU people do not think the danger is big.

Cyprus thinks problems in the area hurt all EU countries. President Christodoulides does not agree with some leaders. He thinks it is wrong to say these fights are "not Europe's war." This makes Cyprus unhappy. They do not agree on how important safety is for everyone.

Cyprus usually feels safe. They have defence deals with Greece, France, and Italy. But things are changing. Now, Cyprus thinks they need EU help. They want to use Article 42/7.

Cyprus's main idea is clear. If one EU country is threatened, all are threatened. President Christodoulides will explain this. He wants other countries to help use the rule.

The drone attack shows the danger. It is a clear example for Cyprus. Using Article 42/7 would be a big step. It would show the EU helps each other. This rule could make Europe safer. It means the EU can act together.

Leaders like António Costa and Ursula von der Leyen have reacted well. This is good news for Cyprus. They might agree to help protect countries. Cyprus wants a stronger EU plan for safety.
