Ecuador has a big problem. Powerful crime groups are there. The country sent many soldiers and police. This is over 75,000 people. Now, people must stay home at night. This is in four places. The President says it is a "war" on crime. This is a new, big step. Many people were killed in 2025.
Ecuador is between Colombia and Peru. These countries make much cocaine. Ecuador is a main path for drugs. Many drugs go through Ecuador. Different crime groups fight for the paths. This makes more violence.
Ecuador works with 17 other countries. The US leads this group. They want to stop crime groups. The FBI opened an office in Ecuador. This helps them work together. They will stop drugs from coming. They want less cocaine in Ecuador.
Many soldiers and police show the problem is bad. The Interior Minister said, "We're at war." He told people to be careful. He said, "Stay at home." Crime groups cause fear.
More help should make people feel safe. Ecuador works with other countries. The FBI office will help them share news. It is too early to know if it will work. But Ecuador wants to stop drug crime.
