Cyprus Government Acts Against Crime

The government in Cyprus is doing many things to stop crime. They made new laws and police actions.

First, they are making a new police team. This team will fight organized crime groups. Cyprus is getting help from Greece to do this. A government minister said it is important to do things the right way.

Also, parliament passed a new law. Now, the government can more easily send away asylum seekers who commit serious crimes. Some politicians agree with this. But others are worried about human rights.

In other actions, a person at the airport got a very big fine. They tried to bring expensive watches into the country without paying.

Finally, police and animal groups worked together for two months. They stopped people from illegally catching birds. They saved over 1,200 birds and gave many fines.

The government says these actions make the country safer and protect the environment.
