A very bad fire happened in a public housing area in Hong Kong. It killed at least 159 people. Another 31 people are missing. This is the deadliest fire in the city in 75 years.
The fire started last Wednesday. It spread very fast in a building with many flats. The building was under repair. A special net around the building was very easy to burn. This net did not meet safety rules.
The government ordered people to take down all this type of net in Hong Kong. They must do it by this Saturday. Officials also arrested at least 15 people. They think these people are responsible for the fire.
After the fire, some people started online petitions. The government said some people are using the tragedy to cause problems. Police arrested a few people for this, including a student.
Now, the city is very sad. People are looking for answers and making new safety rules.
