U.S. Military's "Double Tap" Strike in Caribbean Draws Legal and Ethical Scrutiny

The US military did something in the sea. It started a big talk in Washington. This happened on September 2nd. The US military hit a boat from Venezuela. They thought it had drugs. They hit it again later. Some people who lived died in the second hit. The White House said a commander decided to hit it again. Now, many politicians are asking questions. They want to know if this was okay.

This is part of stopping drugs. It is a big fight. Some leaders want to stop drugs coming to the US. Since early September, there have been many sad events. Many people have died. But some people say the US does not show good proof. They only show short videos.

The big problem is hitting a target two times. The first hit was seen live. But the second hit was not. Smoke and fire made it hard to see. An admiral at the place made the choice for the second hit. The White House said it was a good choice.

But many lawmakers are worried. They want to see all the videos. They want to know if it was legal. They ask about hitting people who survived. This makes us think about using the military. It also makes us think about who is in charge.
