Sick Animals in Cyprus

Cyprus has a big problem. Farm animals are getting sick. It is called Foot-and-Mouth Disease. This is a very bad problem. The government is trying to stop it. Farmers are sad and worried.

Politicians talked about the problem. They are worried about more sick animals. One leader said things are getting worse. About 13,000 animals will be killed. This includes cows and sheep. A farmer named Giorgos said it is sad.

To stop the sickness, sick animals are killed. This is happening in some towns. Hunting is also stopped in some places. This helps stop the virus. Cars and people are cleaned too. This is to stop the spread.

Animals are also getting shots. Animals from the north went to the south. This shows people are helping each other. The European Union sent many shots. This helps with the problem.

The sickness can hurt trade. Halloumi cheese is safe. Other farm foods are checked more. The United Kingdom stopped some imports. But they still want halloumi. This is good for Cyprus.

People are looking for the cause. They think it might be from hay. Samples are being tested. The government will help farmers with money. This is a hard time for Cyprus. But people are working together.
