A sickness is making farm animals sick in Cyprus. This sickness is called foot-and-mouth disease. It spreads very fast. Doctors must kill many farm animals. This is to stop the sickness from spreading. The animal doctors are working hard. They want to stop the sickness. The problem is in the Oroklini area.
The sickness has spread to Livadia. A big farm with cows in Livadia is a main problem. About 260 cows will be killed there. Another farm with 300 animals will also be killed.
Doctors made a special area. This area is near the farm in Livadia. Many animal farms are in this area. Moving animals is not allowed. Police have many checks. Cars are cleaned when they leave.
Why the sickness started is a question. Some think it came from bad animal food. Bad cleaning at farms may also be a reason.
The boss of farming said things are okay. The sickness is not bad for people. People can eat meat from Cyprus. Farmers will lose money. They will get money back later. More doctors are helping. The farms will be watched for 21 days.
