Easter Bonfire Rules Change

Towns in Cyprus are making new rules. These rules are for Easter bonfires. This is because of safety problems. A big meeting was on February 19, 2026. Leaders from towns, police, and firefighters were there. They talked about safer bonfires.

They worry about the "lambradjies" custom. A leader said bad behaviour is spoiling it. Some people cause damage. They do not respect order. This is happening near homes.

The goal is to stop dangerous events. They want the custom to be good. Police are worried about young people. There were accidents before. A boy named Daniel Christian Fratilescu died. This shows why new rules are needed. It is now about public safety.

A plan is being made. Police will plan early. They will work with towns and the fire service. Another meeting is in one month. They will check the plan. The aim is to keep bonfires safe. Towns must help police. This will protect people and things.
