Cyprus Health Budget Approved

Lawmakers in Cyprus agreed on the health budget. This budget is for the Health Insurance Organisation. This group helps run the Gesy healthcare system. But, there are worries about money. People also ask if the system works well. The HIO budget will be over €2 billion this year. This is a lot more than before.

The budget was approved. All lawmakers voted yes. But, people are talking about the Gesy system's money. Politicians are worried. They think more money does not mean better care. People still wait a long time for doctors. Some wait over six months. This shows more money has not helped.

Some people say the system is used wrongly. Maybe too many doctor visits happen. The HIO handles much money. Some politicians say some things make costs go up. These things might not help people. For example, some tests cost money but are not needed. Doctors might choose surgery more. This could be for more pay.

People pay money each month. They want good health care. More people and more money can mean more services. The HIO's money reports are not clear. It is hard to see where money goes.

Gesy needs to fix these problems. If not, it could have issues. The HIO might need less money later. This is bad if problems are not fixed now. Gesy needs to be strong. Money use must be clear.
