This week, Cyprus will have very different weather. First, there will be light rain. But soon, there will be strong storms and it will get much colder.
Scientists say this changeable weather is part of a bigger problem. The island is getting too hot, too fast. The usual climate is changing and the forests are starting to die. Climate change is affecting Cyprus many years earlier than people thought.
The island is getting warmer every ten years. This year, most days were hotter than normal. Autumn is changing a lot. One expert said this November felt like September. This is a sign of the future.
There is also much less rain now. When it does rain, it is very heavy and can cause damage. Scientists think there will be even less rain in the future.
The forests are in danger because it is so dry. Many trees are dying. The forest department is working hard. They are watering trees with recycled water and taking away dead trees.
Cyprus needs to change to protect its nature and water for the future.
