Cyprus Hospitals Need More Nurses

Private hospitals in Cyprus have a big problem. They do not have enough good nurses.

The Cyprus Association of Private Hospitals is unhappy. They say the government is too slow. Marios Karaiskakis leads this group. He said talking did not help. Hospitals might have big problems soon.

A new law could help hire nurses. These nurses are educated in Cyprus. But unions do not like this law. This makes it hard to find nurses. It also makes nurses' pay higher.

The government wants to study the problem more. Pasin thinks this takes too much time. They need nurses now. A new study is not good.

A rule makes it hard for some foreign nurses. Nurses from other countries need more school. Cypriot nurses do not need so much. Pasin says this is not fair.

Because of this, hospitals are suffering. Pasin warns that hospitals might stop taking new patients. Some services may also stop. Some hospitals could even close. This is bad for people who need care.
