Cyprus Police Face Big Problems

The government in Cyprus is dealing with several big police problems. They are looking at three main issues.

First, the police want to use tasers. These are weapons that use electricity. Police leaders say tasers are safer than guns. A study about this will start again.

Second, a government report found a big failure. For seven years, Cyprus tried to buy anti-drone systems. The report says the project had bad planning and failed. Now, important places are not protected from drones.

Third, there is a serious problem with dangerous drivers. Police say there were over 3,200 drink-driving crimes and 869 drug-driving crimes in 2025. In one week, four people died in crashes. One driver had too much alcohol and drugs in his body.

Because of these problems, Cyprus is also asking Greece for help. They want to learn how to fight organized crime better.
