A new study has bad news about Earth's forests. Scientists studied forests in Africa from 2007 to 2017. They found that since about 2010, these forests release more carbon than they take in. This is because people cut down trees for farming and mining. Climate change also hurts the forests. This means all the world's big tropical forests now add to climate change.
At the same time, a big energy group says the world will use more oil and gas for many years. They say this is because energy demand is growing. Planes, ships, and new technology like AI need a lot of power.
So, there are two big problems. First, natural forests are not helping with climate change anymore. Second, the world is still using a lot of fossil fuels. This makes it very hard to stop climate change. Leaders need to protect forests better and change our energy faster.
