South African Radio Host Arrested in Russia Case

A well-known radio presenter and four other people were arrested in South Africa. Police say they were trying to travel to Russia to fight in the war against Ukraine. The five were stopped at the airport in Johannesburg last week.

This case is very big in South Africa. Police started an investigation in November. They are looking for 17 South African men. Family members say these men were tricked. They were promised jobs as bodyguards in South Africa, but they were sent to fight in Ukraine instead. Eight of these men are from former President Jacob Zuma's family.

The radio presenter's sister is a former politician. She resigned from her job in government last week because of this case. She says she did nothing wrong.

Police say they arrested the five people after a tip from airport officers. The five will go to court soon. This case is a big problem for South Africa. It shows how people are being recruited for foreign wars. The police are still looking for more people in this network.
